Enna – Guyana

Name: enna

Height: 5’6”

Star sign: Libra

Occupation: I hold a master’s degree in Public Policy, with a minor in International Relations. I currently work internationally as an English Instructor, a model, and an actress.

What are your favourite hobbies and why?: Praxeology (studying human behaviour and patterns), creative writing, travelling, dancing, singing, modelling, acting, designing (clothing/homes) millinery, fitness, and yoga. I enjoy all these activities concurrently, as they fulfill the various aspects of my personality, while keeping me engaged, balanced, grounded, and in-touch with nature, (my relationship to the environment and to others). Moreover, my fascination for studying various cultural habits provides me the insight and stimulation to reflect inwardly and recognise my own participation within my community and the world around, thus making me accountable to the outcome of every event.
What is your biggest ambition?: To be an avatar of confidence and resilience. I aspire to being in a position to use my life as an example to inspire others to dare to dream, and to be brave enough to reach for that dream despite the adversities they may face. My goal is to become an actress, and to use that platform to demonstrate that all things are possible through perseverance, work, and most importantly, belief in yourself…..even when, and especially when it seems darkest.

Charity you would nominate to receive 10% of our fundraising if you are the highest fundraiser, and your reasons why: The Navjeevan Centre, in Maharastra, India: http://www.navjeevan.in/index.php
The incumbency of a gridlocked society in India dictates certain roles for women, roles that are degrading, oppressive, and in my view, inhumane – I refer specifically to the commercial sex work in the Red Light District. Not only are the women exposed to this denigration, but so are their children – the archetypes of our future. Im interested in assisting this cause because I believe that the first step in effecting any change in one’s situation, is to educate the participants to the choices available. By expanding their frame of cognisance, thus dissolving the mental Alcatraz that binds them to the normalised precept they have been inured to, they come to realise that their condition is not ‘fated.’ Women were divinely ordained to be the architect of our species, and every new-born child has the potential to greatly influence the human trajectory. All of my volunteer efforts, therefore, have been fueled by these premises. In the past, I have spent some time in the centers working at the Navjeevan Center in Mumbai, both with the women and their children, and for years after, I have donated financially to the effort of their rehabilitation and training. I do not think however, that money is necessarily the singular key to effecting a change, but that spending time to assist and train them is what in the long-run will be more effective; for now, however, until I can afford the time to be there again, monetary donation is the second best option.

Languages Spoken or would like to learn: English (native), Spanish (high intermediate), Italian (intermediate) and Portuguese (basic). I was trained in Arabic many years ago, but due to no usage, I have forgotten most of it. I would love to improve proficiency in the romantic languages mentioned above, and to be able to study Arabic again…..and of course, the mother tongue – Punjabi. Languages hold the key to a culture’s system of thought, and being able to communicate through any means, is an amazing step towards global harmony.

Countries you have visited: Guyana (native), USA (resident), India (heritage), England, Canada, China, Argentina, Brazil, Singapore, Italy, France, Spain, Turkey, Egypt, Malta, Jamaica, Aruba, Guadalupe, Belize, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Mexico, Bahamas, Grand Cayman Islands, St Martin, St Thomas, The British Virgin Islands, Barbados, Belize, Chile, Puerto Rico, Greece

Favourite Disney movie and why: Around the world in 80 days, because it is an adventure, a cultural experience, and a world tour all in within the 90 minutes of a movie viewing; being a travel enthusiast and cultural savant, this was thrilling for me to experience just by sitting on my couch.
